I’m stunned by the passing of entrepreneur, fashion, and style icon Kate Spade. After I graduated from the University of Illinois, my first job in fashion was at Lord & Taylor managing the handbags and accessories department at Water Tower place on Michigan Ave. I was able to touch and feel these beautifully made pieces everyday. One of my first “grown up” accessory purchases was a Kate Spade wristlet. Fast forward to today one of my regular signature pieces is my Kate Spade initial necklace and stackable bracelets. When you hear about things like this it’s just a reminder that you never know what is going on inside someone’s head and heart. Depression does not discriminate. Fame and fortune do not equal joy and happiness. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and anyone else who struggles with depression and mental hurdles. You are not alone!
