Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

“When women support each other, incredible things happen.”

Styled by M.Jonesy started with a basic idea a few years ago.

I always enjoyed styling my friends and helping them get dressed. Whether it be for a wedding, vacation, or date night, I really loved when people would come to me for advice on what they were going to wear. When I decided to leave my previous life in corporate America, I was definitely terrified to start this journey. However, I knew if I wanted to see what SBMJ had in store for me, I had to go all in. Over the past few years, things have grown and developed into more than just an idea. It’s grown into a business that excites me every day and has created relationships and friendships that go beyond people’s closets.

I’m consistently trying to figure out ways to grow my business and also grow personally. This past year I’ve really focused on how to empower myself and in turn help empower others. I’ve been able to be a part of a handful of events that have really opened my mind on how the content I put out there can influence others.

Last month, I was lucky to be a part of the very first Inspire Society Tribe event in Chicago!

For those who underestimate the power of social media, they have not experienced the intricate web of connections and family that you can create online. I connected with Inspire Society on Instagram and I signed up for their very first event in Chicago. It was a full Sunday of networking with other bloggers and photographers from the Chicagoland area. I’m so happy that I decided to be a part of this incredible day!

Mandy and Jess, the brains behind Inspired, kicked off the weekend with a cocktail hour at Joy District, one of my favorite rooftop spots in River North.

Sunday started bright and early. The event took place at the beautiful Robey Hotel in Wicker Park. It has been on my list of places to check out for a while, so I was thrilled at the opportunity. The Robey was the perfect backdrop for a day full of photo shoots and connecting with other boss babes. We were able to shoot in the beautiful Robey Café, which looked to be the perfect place to lunch with a view of Wicker Park’s famous 6 corner intersection. They showed us the rooftop pool at the Cabana Club, where at the end of the day I treated myself to a deliciously refreshing basil gimlet. But by far my favorite was The Up- Room bar with 180-degree views of our incredible city.

Our home base, THE HALL at the Robey. The perfect place for us to set up shop for the day.

A beautiful spread from Stans Donuts. My fave donuts are the Chocolate Pocket with Nutella & Banana and the Lemon Pistachio Old Fashioned! What are yours??

In love with this paper flower backdrop from Lil Epic Designs!! Can you say “Instagrammable” or what?

All this at the Robey, paired with some talented photographers, we were able to capture some pretty amazing moments.

When I signed up for the event there was one person that I knew I HAD to recruit to do this with me.

The one and only Jacqueline Barkley. I know you see her name come across my Instagram and blog a lot.  But she’s one of the lady bosses that I turn to for advice and support throughout my Style by Journey. Of course she’s also a bad ass photographer so I had to hare her with the rest of the blogging world! I’m so happy she joined me for this amazing event.

If you’re a regular SBMJ follower, you know I’ve spoken about one of my biggest hurdles of leaving corporate life and entering a life of entrepreneurship.

I didn’t realize how lonely it would be working from home. I was used to either working in my office with colleagues or traveling all over to meet with clients or meeting new vendors. It was challenging to learn to relish and be creative in a quiet space by myself.

However, I’ve been able to find different outlets to create a workspace with colleagues online. I see my Inspire Society Tribe being another outlet for me to pull creative inspiration from. Thank you so much to The Robey Hotel, Mandy, Jess, and my Inspire Society Tribe for allowing me to expand my horizon of professionals! It was a great day and I cannot wait for the next Chicago event.

Check out this great video from our Inspire Society Tribe day with Photographer and Videographer (and fellow Pinoy!) Karl Solano. He did an incredible job and we were at ease with him behind the camera. I can’t wait to work with him again in the future.

Stay Styled, and thanks for being a part of my tribe!
M. Jonesy
