Vacay Style: East Coast Babymooning!

I fell behind a bit on my blogging. It’s been a crazy few weeks getting things ready for baby. We have workers in our house painting and patching and had movers take all our furniture from the 2nd bedroom and put it into storage. All of baby boy’s furniture is ordered and we are gearing up for baby shower #1 in a few weeks. Slowly but surely we’ve been getting house ready for babes. All this moving and shaking has made our July mini vacay to the east coast feel like a lifetime ago!

We closed out our 2nd trimester last month with a babymoon through New England. We ate our way through Kennebunkport and Boston with a few touristy stops visiting the home of some GOATS 🐐

I’m already dreaming of my post baby meal of oysters and Rosé 😅 We had a great time but now we’re ready for this last leg before Baby Bird arrives this fall. My belly is growing exponentially, which is a bit alarming because everyone says this last trimester is when he grows the most 🤪 but just telling myself he’s growing big and strong like his dad.

It’s hard to believe this is our last trip for a while…but I know our biggest adventure is yet to come.
Cheers to Trimester Number 3! #babyjonesymoon

FIRST UP, KENNEBUNKPORT, ME!

We landed in Boston and took a quick hour and 30 minute drive up to Kennebunkport. We visited there a few years back for a destination wedding and fell in love with the town immediately. We opted to stay at the same place we visited last time, The Grande Hotel. For us it was perfect location — walking distance from all the main restaurants in Kennebunk and also a nice walk to Gooch’s Beach. Kennebunk is a sleepy town, so perfect for the pregnant lady who is alseep in bed by 10 pm every night.

Notable places to eat and drink:

Batson River – great place for happy hour drinks and appetizers
The Clam Shack (A must!) – photo above, we shared a lobster roll and popcorn shrimp platters
The Boathouse – great dinner views! We had dinner at the bar and they have a great oyster list (which I didn’t get to enjoy) and lots of great wines.
Earth – great farm to table restaurant with an interesting ambience! Food was amazing.
White Barn Inn – we indulged our fancy side at White Barn Inn. The menu is pre-fix and you can also add a wine pairing (gain which I did not get to enjoy!)

After 2 nights and 3 days in Kennebunkport, we packed up and headed back to Boston!

Before we headed to the city, we decided to make a quick pit stop at Bird’s corporate headquarters to say hi to some of his east coast peeps. Then he took me to Foxborough to see Patriots Place and Gilette Stadium. Had an awesome lunch at Skipjack’s Seafood Emporium.

After playing tourist in Foxborough, we headed to Boston where we called the Loews Hotel home for the next few days. We basically ate our way though Boston. There was a massive heat wave which was a struggle for me, but I powered through, drank a lot of water, and we walked (and sometimes waddled) ALL. OVER. BOSTON.

Notable places to eat and drink:

Hotel: Loews Boston Hotel
Buttermilk & Bourbon
Blackbird Doughnuts
Quincy Market at Faneuil Hall
Trattoria Il Panino
B&G Oysters
FoMu South End for Ice Cream
Select Oyster Bar
Post 390

All of these places are in walking distance from the Loews! Also visited the Boston Public Gardens and Boston Commons. We absolutely LOVE Boston and cannot wait to go back with Baby Bird.
