4 Days In Lake Como Will Give you FOMO!

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since our trip to Italy!  I look at the pictures every day and I miss it already.  We had such a great time, and even though I feel like 14 days was quite long, I’m already dying to go back. Lake Como is something that everyone should see in their lifetime.  We had never been there before and I had gotten a recommendation from one of my past business acquaintances on where to stay. Lake Como is shaped like an upside down “Y” and we opted for a small town on the lower left split.

We booked 3 nights at a bed-and-breakfast in the small town of Cernobbio, called “Casa Santo Stefano”.

We did not even believe the views from the bed-and-breakfast when we arrived. It was like a movie. The bed-and-breakfast was beautiful, the owners and staff were so accommodating but not overbearing. Our room was huge and it was perfect because we could see the sunset from one of our windows. On the other side we could see a full view of the lake. Casa Santo Stefano set the stage for our trip. I would go back in a heartbeat.

The garden area at Casa Santo Stefano was stunning! It was a picturesque place to kick back and relax.

Cernobbio is what I would call a “sleepy town”, but it was perfect for us and a great way to relax and adjust to Italy time.

We’d be up early and go into town to shop or have a cappuccino. Then it was time for lunch and an afternoon gelato. After that strenuous morning, we would head back to the house to relax and enjoy a good read by the pool. Or for Bird time to catch up on some work! A pre dinner drink at the “self serve honor bar” would be followed by dinner at one of the local restaurants consisting of enough pasta and wine to put you straight to bed for a restful nights sleep!

Our Cernobbio lunch spot – L’Onda Ristorante where John Legend and Chrissy Teigen dine when they’re in Como!

Just Bird doing Bird things.

Just a glass (or bottle!) of wine before dinner.

This was a fun dinner at Ristorante Della Torre Albergo. Pasta will never be the same after eating it in Italy.

For one of the days I found a tour company run by a gentleman named Giacomo.

Trip Advisor gave him five star reviews so I thought what the heck, let’s go for it. We did a seven hour tour day with him and he was worth every penny. His boat is beautiful, comfortable, and well kept. He is so knowledgeable on everything on the lake – past and present. We saw the villa where John Legend and Chrissy Teigan got married, Richard Branson’s Villa, George and Amal’s Villa, and tons of villas of royalty and rich Russian Bankers! Giacomo knew it all and knew all the history behind the villas.

He took us to a tiny little island called Isola Comacina , where we enjoyed a cappuccino with an incredible view. He then took us to Bellagio where we walked around and shopped for an hour. Bellagio was super touristy, such a big difference between that village and Cernobbio! But, more gelato was had and I bought the most beautiful scarf!

After Bellagio, Giacomo booked us a lovely lunch at a restaurant on the lake called Ristorante alle Darsene di Loppia. It was PERFECT. I HIGHLY recommend booking Giacomo if you will be in Cernobbio. It was the best day we had in Lake Como and one of our favorites from our entire Italian vacation. Grazie mille to the amazing Giacomo of for an incredible experience on Lake Como!!!

After our restful few days in Lake Como, we packed up the car and headed south for our long stint in Tuscany…where the Italian magic and charm continued!

Lake Como, you wow’d us! We cannot wait to go back. You have my heart!

Michelle
