M.Jonesy Friday Fab Five Tips – Vacay Packing

Even on vacation you’ve got to keep your closet game on point 🎯 One of my favorite parts of vacation is getting ready for the night 💁🏽‍♀️👗💋 I love showering, hanging out in my robe, turning on my “Glow Up” playlist on Spotify, and getting all made up.

When I pack for a trip I like to make a list and organize by day and event. I used to travel a lot for work so planning ahead was always so important. I would have to pack thinking about going from meetings during the day, to a networking event in the afternoon, and then dinner with clients in the evening. All with little time to change and not wanting to pack 1 billion outfits. So for me packing for work became very strategic and now is ingrained in my brain for packing for vacation. There’s nothing more annoying than getting to your destination and realizing you’re missing key pieces for your outfits, or even something as basic as undergarments or pool accessories 😎. So my packing list starts a couple weeks before we leave. It sounds crazy I know. You know me and my lists! ✅✅✅

Here are my 5 Friday Tips for packing for a vacation:

1) Write down how many days you were saying and how many events per day.
ex: Miami: 4 nights, 5 days, 2 Travel Days (plane outfits)

2) Start filling in potential outfit ideas for each day and each event.
ex:
Wednesday
Travel: Cotton Jumpsuit, Wedges, Cardigan or zip up if you get cold on the plane! Carry-on: chargers, MacBook, Amiee Song Book, Headphoes, Wallet, Travel pouch.

Pool Day: Beach Bag, Tribal Swimsuit, Coverup Pants, Sunnies, Sunscreen, Pool pouch.

Dinner at Komodo: Black Akira Black label Dress, Fashion Nova Heels, Clutch (black or leopard), jewelry accessories

3) Lay out each potential outfit together so you can visually see all the pieces

4) Combine each outfit and fold together how you would wear it and pack it as a set

5) Make a list of what you’re supposed to wear each day. I usually put this in my “Notes” on my iPhone.

Other tips that I like to do are to pack an extra piece that you could mix and match with certain things such as a blazer or a piece of jewelry that can act as a part of a dress or standalone by itself. I also like to bring a mesh bag for my dirty laundry or my dry cleaning. Because the only thing worse than packing is unpacking!
