M.Jonesy Friday Fab Five Tips – 1 LBD, 5 Ways

Hi Friends! Happy Friday!

As you know, I strive to provide the best style and shopping tips for everyone who follows the blog. What better way than to turn to you to hear what YOU want. One recurring interest that keeps arising with many of my clients and followers is versatile professional wear. How can I go from the carpool drop off at school, to a meeting, to client drinks, then back home to wrangle my family to sit down for dinner?

I revert back to my traveling days in corporate America. How can I drag myself off a 6 am flight, to a trade show, to dinner, and fit it all into a carry-on?

It’s somewhat of a similar concept. A common theme found in my previous posts, sometimes it’s a matter of just changing out your outer wear or accessories to transform your looks from day to night, business professional to business smart to business casual.

Sidenote, photos below were taken by my BFF Alexa with my Amazon Echo Look!

Here’s SBMJ’s Friday Fab Five – 1 dress, 5 ways:

ONE DRESS:
A LBD from Fashion Nova!

LOOKING FOR A SLEEVELESS OPTION FOR THE SUMMERTIME? HERE’S A PERFECT MIDI FROM FASHION NOVA!

FIVE WAYS:

OPTION #1: ADD A Long duster, trench, or cardigan.
Ya’ll know my love affair with dusters. A long or midi duster is a great way to add length and dimension to your outfit. You can tie it closed, but most of the time I tie it back to open it up in the front.

Some of my favorite dusters:
Takes Me Back Sheer Duster from Akira
GOT YOUR LETTER EMBROIDERED FLORAL DUSTER from Akira
Crescent Floral Print Satin Kimono Jacket With Front from ASOS
Longline Floral Print Kimono from Forever 21

Option #2: Blaze it up!
I chose this peplum blazer because I like the way it cuts my body but also the front clasp. I would have definitely rocked this outfit at a trade show or client meeting. Boyfriend blazers are in right now, so you could also pair that with a shorter dress too (maybe not work appropriate, but definitely great for a date night).

Here are few blazers that you could pair with a LBD…I think I may purchase a couple of these!
Cropped Blazer from Akira
Black Lace Detailed Blazer from Lulus.com
Adorable Pink Blazer from Revolve

Option #3: Street Style it up with a leather or denim jacket.
I feel very strongly about these two pieces of outer wear. I think everyone should have a denim or leather jacket in their closet. I remember back in college when EVERYONE was wearing those dumb North Face fleeces. Sorry, not sorry. I had one (a generic brand) and wore it everywhere, but deep down inside cringed whenever I put it on. Think of the denim or leather jacket as your grown up fleece replacement. Oh and donate those fleeces immediately. I know this is probably an unpopular opinion but 🤷🏽‍♀️

I found these jackets with some fun embellishments to take it to the next level!
Free People Denim Jacket from Revolve
Black Vegan Leather Moto Jacket from Lulus.com
Tan/Nude Vegan Moto Jacket from Lulus.com with black zipper detailing

Option #4: Gold bomber with Flats or slip on sneakers (rare sighting of me in flats!)
Put on a bomber jacket and aviators and you are immediately the cool kid on the block.
Also as much as I have an affinity for dusters and bodysuits, I have an aversion to flats. But since not everyone likes to suffer in blistering pain every day like I chose to, there are a ton of options for flats out there. I’ll add to my Arthur Style page for ya’ll to check out.

Some bomber jackets for you to choose from:
So this floral bomber jacket from BB Dakota is EVERYTHING. I’d actually pair this with my Adidas sneaks for a causal weekend look.
RAWR, this bomber from Revolve is da bomb. I think I’m actually going to order it tonight!
Another casual option with sneakers or flats is this camo bomber from Revolve. Unsure about Camo??? Read last week’s SBMJ Fab Five.

Option #5: Accessorize!
When it’s too hot out to put on a jacket, or you’re too lazy to piece together multiple components of an outfit, just accessorize. I chose a scarf, but you could add a chunky necklace or wrap a embellished belt around your waist.

Not a dress person? You can pair all these pieces with an all black ensemble of black blouse and black pants or black tank with black crop pants. Or even pair with a blouse or bodysuit, and denim.

You can shop all the comparable looks listed above on my Arthur Shopping Page here!
